As most people know, SEO can be a very hit and miss affair.  And with the likes of Google moving the goalposts before you have time to blink, it’s important to keep abreast of the latest developments, else risk losing that all important search engine ranking.  With this in mind, I decided to test the boundaries of SEO a little, and develop a definitive list of what works and what doesn’t.  Hence, Project SEO was born (I know, I couldn’t think of  a better name!).

Using my own site (warrenchandler.com) as a test subject was perfect.  The site has not been submitted to any search engines, has no SEO presence whatsoever, and isn’t jam packed with content yet.  What can I expect?  Well, if I know what I am doing (and I think I do!) you’ll be able to monitor my site’s SEO performance along the way, and watch it grow and grow!

What I am aiming for is a quick presence with the major search engines, firstly using the search term ‘Warren Chandler’ (there’s strangely a few of us out there, including a famous writer) and ultimately getting a first page listing using just the extremely terms Web Programmer.  Impossible?  I think not!

I’ll also throw in a few curveballs along the way to see just how smart the search engines are.  More on this later, stay tuned.
